A Message from Mayor Egan

Election 2020

As we enter the last few weeks of the election cycle, I need to sadly issue a warning to those who see that breaking the law is a part of supporting a candidate or a political party.

Of late, Lake Shore has been plagued by a series of illegal actions, such as removing and stealing political flags, defacing signs urging the election of one candidate or another or intimidating those supporting candidates for election.

Having been involved in local politics for nearly 30 years, I have seen many contentious elections, but nothing like what I am witnessing now. State law makes many of these actions criminal and Chief Sundstrom and our police officers intend to enforce the law forbidding this kind of intimidating behavior. If we catch you stealing a yard sign, threatening a neighbor or cutting down a dock flag, you will be charged with a crime and go before the District Court, where you may be fined by the Judge or sentenced to time in the Cass County jail.

Remember that we are all in this together and that we need to respect each other and treat all in a civil manner. If you fail to heed this warning, there will be consequences.
